The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), an agency of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development, is the public entity responsible for disaster management and response. It was established to ensure the development of disaster management capabilities, facilitate emergency response, and coordinate disaster recovery efforts across the country. It has led the disaster preparation and recovery efforts for all natural disasters that have affected Jamaica for over four decades. ODPEM has also assisted other Caribbean countries in their recovery from past natural disasters. ODPEM collaborates with various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, non-governmental organizations, and international partners to manage disaster risks and ensure efficient emergency response. The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is the lead agency coordinating the country’s operational response to Hurricane Beryl. The ODPEM team has been working tirelessly to deliver relief supplies to all affected areas in Jamaica that were adversely impacted by Hurricane Beryl. Their task is a mammoth one and we are counting on you to assist in the recovery exercise.
